The diary is now very fragile and difficult to read
Fortunately it was written in indelible pencil and in very neat hand writing. Some of the place names defeated me, in spite of studying French road maps and Google Earth. But it may be that some of the smaller villages just ceased to exist. In these cases I have resorted to *******.
The diary has now been placed in the regimental museum for safe keeping
